Golf - An Introduction
Who doesn't know that Alan Shepard was the first man to hit a golf ball in 1971? Can you think of a recreation tour, which does not include a Golf vacation? Perhaps, the answer is NO. But do you realize just how Golf has become so popular today?
Let's just try to gaze through the different stages in a nut shell. At the very beginning of the human civilization, pre-historic man played an analogous game - A game with a stick and a ball e.g. Pangea in early Roman history. Scotland gave birth to the game way back in the 15th century.
As of now we don't think of a package even for a true luxury on a beach without the Golf vacation. History reveals that the "Kolf" of Netherlands and "Golf" of England were the best leisure for both the kings and commoners. Its royal endorsement helped in popularizing it. It grew in stature and became popular very quickly and thus spread over in the 16th century.
King Charles I inducted it in England and Mary Queen followed suit in France. In the US its presence could only be felt in 1946 through Sam Snead. Today the game is popular across the globe and being played professionally and otherwise.
There are some very prestigious clubs, who offer the finest golf vacations. Some official tours like Sales meeting, incentive trip today integrate the golf vacation as an entertainment.
There are plenty of golf clubs round the world like - Butler National GC, Bay Hill Club, The Country Club are certainly the best of the lot, to name a few. |
