Just for an example the resume of a Database Administrator will vary largely from that of one opting for hardware sales. In case of a true IT professional, the ‘Projects undertaken’ plays the most significant role in the resume. While furnishing each project, you must mention, the team size, the platform used, the OS used. The project description should be very clear. The target sector should also be clearly defined. The type/ description of the project must reveal clearly whether it is a product or a project. A small tip, a project has got a definite start and end point while a product becomes more universal. The project must describe the testing mechanism adopted to check the durability/ susceptibility/ endurance level of the product/ project. It’s needless to say that your role should be very clearly stated. If you are a team leader or project manager then the timeline/ controlling and monitoring procedure/ quality parameters must be stated very clearly – it should be a miniature version of the Project Plan or the most popular keyword PMP. Resume should clearly depict the most important procurers and functionalities adapted by you depending upon your role. In case of programmers, the versatility of knowledge level of different programming tools and languages need to be furnished in the resume. In case of a Database Administrator, the version of the database and the Operating system must be stated clearly. An Oracle administrator with exposures both in Unix and Windows Operating system is preferred much more. We suggest not using the generic terms like Software Professional or IT professional, rather focusing on specific area of competence. Your resume should give a clear picture to the employer, whether you suit their present requirements and also should depict whether you can work in cross-platform areas in the long run.
